Maximize Your Success: 2 Reasons to Work with a Certified Business Coach

It is not necessary for a business coach to be accredited in order to practice as a business coach. I don’t like the fact that the coaching industry is not regulated.

But it is what it is!

The coaching industry looks saturated, but only a few are qualified and trained coaches according to the highest standards.

These days anyone can decide to call themselves coaches. Even the real definition of coaching and how it’s different from mentoring and consulting is not clear for many. Read more about this in this blog post:

Things you need to know before hiring a business coach!

Everyone can call themselves a coach these days!

Coaching is nothing but a communication skill to run “motivational interviews”.

It’s not magic, it’s just a method that can encourage creative thinking.

I believe anyone can benefit from learning some coaching skills: parents, leaders, managers, teachers, psychologists, health professionals.

But it’s a skill that comes with practice : You master it by doing it frequently.

Coaching has become a lucrative industry. Many want to jump on the bandwagon with the hope of creating income with ease :

“You just help someone and get paid for it”

But is it that easy? Can you create real results for clients just like that?

Maybe!

I believe the clients should be smart enough to decide.

I personally did not consider becoming a coach just because of the “ease” of it. My journey of becoming a certified business coach definitely has been anything but easy.

I transitioned from a business owner, expert and entrepreneur to business consultant and mentor.

I noticed business consulting is helpful in creating successful business strategies and solutions:

…but only when the business owners can execute those strategies.

So I trained myself as a certified business coach to understand the challenges of the “ humans” behind businesses.

This helped me guide them in executing those strategies. Or develop strategies that are aligned with their personality and values.

How does a certified business coach get qualified?

Accreditation typically involves completing a training program and meeting certain standards.

This can help to ensure that the coach has the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality coaching.

It took me a year of weekly classes, mentoring sessions, coaching clients and submitting the recorded sessions for assessments, and a written exam to receive my accreditation.

We were being trained about different fields such as neuroscience, transactional analysis, positive psychology and somatic coaching.

Learning about these topics has definitely helped me understand human beings and their challenges better.

My training in the process of getting certified as a coach helped me build more trust and credibility with clients.

It provides me with a sense of professionalism and accomplishment. I probably could still run a successful consulting business with my academic background and business experience. But I knew with my curiosity in the human mind and psychology I will need further training.

Being accredited made it easier for me to network and connect with other professionals in the field. So every time I feel I can’t support a client, at least I knew who to refer them to.

ICF : the International Coaching Federation

The International Coach Federation (ICF) is a professional organization for coaches, which offers accreditation to coaches who meet its standards.

The ICF accredits coaches based on a set of defined standards, which are designed to ensure that coaches have the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to provide high-quality coaching services.

The process of accreditation includes a review of the coach’s education, training, and experience, as well as an assessment of their coaching skills. Once a coach is accredited by the ICF, they are eligible to use the designations “ACC” (Associate Certified Coach), “PCC” (Professional Certified Coach), or “MCC” (Master Certified Coach) after their name, depending on their level of experience and expertise.

Working with a certified business coach can be beneficial for a number of reasons:

  1. A certified business coach has undergone training and has the knowledge and experience necessary to help you achieve your business goals.

They can provide valuable insights and guidance, and help you develop strategies and plans to grow your business.

If you go on the global ICF website or any of their local chapters ( for instance ICF Swiss chapter) and search the name of a coach you can find out if they have had accredited coach training or not.

  1. A certified business coach can hold you accountable for your actions and help you stay on track, which can be particularly helpful if you tend to procrastinate or have trouble staying motivated.

Having credentials, such as being a certified business coach or leadership coach, can help accredited coaches create better results for their clients because it shows that they have undergone training and have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality coaching.

Credibility creates trust

This can help clients feel more confident in the coach’s ability to help them achieve their goals.

In addition, having credentials can also help coaches establish credibility and trust with their clients, which is essential for creating a successful coaching relationship.
